TWINE -- BeiDa and Qinhua

Peking University and Qinhua University are considered China’s most prestigious universities. Only the top scoring students from China’s middle schools are invited to study there, and these schools enjoy preferential treatment in terms of government support for important projects like research.

PLEASE DISCUSS YOUR VIEWS REGARDING PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT FOR PEKING U. AND QINHUA U.

Do you believe it is acceptable for this kind of “preferential treatment” to continue, or is it time for other colleges and universities to have an equal opportunity to have access to these resources?

Equal Resources to all colleges?
Explain?

No
Bei Da and Qinhua represent a greater return on investment than the other schools
Best university = best treatment
China has to make the best of its resources because it is not very rich
China is a developing country. It can't afford to support all schools. Other students can achieve through study and hard work
The best students in China deserve the support of the government because they worked harder. Most are very poor and they deserve the chance to improve their lives
In 1997 President Jiang said we should build the world's best technology college

Yes
We share education we should share resources
All should get the same resources. Other universitiye need good teachers too
High score is not everything. Some lower-scoring students have better abilities, but are deprived an equal education because of their scores.
